RARE coins have been a hot topic on social media in recent months, with many sharing tips on how to make big bucks from spare change.

One version of a common quarter could be worth $500, but only with a key detail that makes it rare.

Rare coin TikTok account Bullion Shark (@bullionshark) shared the tip on a unique 2023 quarter.

The video received over 1,000 likes.

THE FIND

The video by Bullion Shark begins with their reaction to another TikToker collecting coins.

The original video features two children trying to earn $500 by finding spare change.

Showing off what they’d got so far, the kids revealed hundreds of coins.

That’s when Bullion Shark interjected with advice.

“Dig through all these quarters,” they said. “That’s the best way to make $500.”

Then, Bullion Shark shows off the 2023 quarter.

“In fact, there’s one quarter that’s worth $500.

The particular design that may have a valuable error is the 2023 Bessie Coleman design.

On the “tails” side of the coin, the Black aviator appears with an airplane behind her.

The design was originally recommended for a 1932 quarter, but was tabled for most of the last century, according to the U.S. Mint.

“You have definitely seen one of these,” he said of the ordinary Bessie Coleman coin.

Made in Denver and Philadelphia, a few of the coins were printed incorrectly.

“But take a closer look at the airplane.”

Sure enough, the top of the wing on the plane appears to have a bulge on it.

This is a print error, a mistake introduced to the coin at the mint where the coin was made.

Certified by coin specialists like the Professional Coin Grading Service, a Coleman quarter with this error could be worth $500, according to Bullion Shark.

MORE RARE COINS

There are other rare coins out there that are even more valuable.

One rare nickel could be worth $138,000 thanks to one small error.

A ‘doubling’ error, where the date appears to have been printed twice, is the cause of the high price.

While hard to mistake for a typical coin in pocket change, some much older coins can be worth millions.

One 1829 $5 coin recently sold for $3.8 million.

The shiny golden coin was valuable due to its long history before being auctioned.
